This horrific treatment of autistic people has to stop. The lack of understanding and quite frankly the lack of humanity shown to autistic people in these institutions is intolerable. #AutismAwareness

@SchoolMentalHealth Research has shown (Connelly et al 2023) pupils who have school attendance difficulties are 92.1% neurodivergent and 83.4% autistic. And given 80% of autistic girls remain unrecognised at 18 probably even higher. Understanding and accommodating neurodivergency is what's needed
