But, as surgeon who was trying to get real emergencies into the OR as fast as possible, I can tell you I never agreed to “ask permission” to bump a case. If I had time to speak with a colleague about it, I’d explain, but you don’t need, or have time for, permission.

Two observations relevant to this:
(1) Tom McCarthy, it’s ok to stop talking a whole lot earlier in a game than when the no-hitter gets blown up, and,
