Delighted to share our recent award of an MRFF clinical trial grant round to run an investigator-led phase III RCT evaluating optimal treatment of MOGAD at onset and relapse. This 12 centre NHMRC funded national trial speaks to our investment in neuroimmunology.

Often referred to as a cousin of MS due to shared symptoms, MOGAD is an autoimmune condition where the body attacks a protein in the brain, resulting in a swollen central nervous system.

A team of over 50 Australian scientists, headed by Prof Fabienne Brilot from University of Sydney & Kids Neuroscience Centre at Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, have discovered a way to predict a relapse course in little-known disease Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody disorders (MOGAD).

“The prediction of a relapsing course in MOGAD means neurologists can make more informed treatment decisions,” says Prof Fabienne Brilot.
