Today the Foreign Secretary held an #IWD2024 event to celebrate the work of Women’s Rights Organisations from Nigeria, Pakistan and Poland. In the last two years the UK has supported more than 800 Women’s Rights Organisations around the world. #InvestInWomen

Yesterday to mark the #ZeroToleranceDay for FGM, we were joined by survivors, activists and civil society for an empowering and engaging discussion.

Effective approaches to #EndFGM must include the leadership of survivors and be centred in the rights of women and girls.

Globally, 200 million women & girls have experienced Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

Since 2013, the UK has worked with over 10,000 communities to abandon this harmful practice and is proud to support the Africa-led movement to #endFGM .

On International Day of Zero Tolerance…

Millions of girls continue to experience #FGM . Notably, there is a concerning trend indicating that FGM is increasingly being performed on girls at younger ages.
