Ok just seen the front pages about 'sicknote culture'. These arguments are just full of holes.
Yes we should care about work and health, but top priority should be helping people *out of work already* not those who take time off sick.

Our Labour Market Stats briefing note is now available. Today’s figures are very poor. Employment is down by nearly 1% over the last year, unemployment has risen unexpectedly and 'economic inactivity' has reached its highest rate since 2015.

Truly awful jobs data today.
Employment, economic inactivity as bad as depths of pandemic.
The data is VERY volatile so don't read too much into short-term changes, but trend is clearly poor.
And I think it shows it's the labour market holding back growth - not other way round...
