.....And whilst studying at University, up pops W:226. A Penryn University chick ringed 2018, now 5 years old and looking like a stunning adult. Surprisingly, only the 9th resighting for this traveled bird. Photo credits to Charlotte Foote who was very quick off the mark Cornwall Birds

And finally there were plenty of Netted Dog Whelks (Tritia sp.) in the rockpools. The two species are very hard to separate without looking at the shell opening, but I also found some egg sacs which were slightly wider than tall, making them T. reticulata rather than T. nitida

Went rockpooling this morning for the first time in ages, and it didn't disappoint! The highlights are too many to fit into one tweet, so I'll start with my favourites (and all new for me) - Solar-powered Sea Slug, Arctic Cowrie, Common Squat Lobster and Small-headed Clingfish

Thank you to all who came along to our ringing demo today. It was brilliant to show some of the conservation work undertaken on campus with a range of species inc. Redwing, Chiffchaff, Goldcrest and Blackcap.

All birds caught and handled under BTO licence for research purposes.
