In every outbreak, Liberia to Vermont, a contingent of people will swear the virus isn't real. A contingent will say it isn't harmful, and actually makes you stronger. A contingent will call it an excuse for a power grab, or a manmade weapon for population control.

Rise in the demand of raw milk despite #H5N1 found in milk - you cannot make this up. Raw milk was never a safe food & can cause serious infections, now it even has the risk of avian influenza. Just don't! There is a good reason pasteurization was invented.

Is anyone testing California milk for H5? It's not that hard to test, the positive milk has a ton of viral RNA in it.

I just want to know if H5 is in CA cattle.

It would be stupid if I have to have people send me milk from CA to figure this out.

A great thread, I very much like the 'lottery tickets' analogy from Tom Peacock - I would say we give a lot of lottery tickets for the big jackpot to this virus even for free to maximize its chances for a win.

I agree with this, and know of similar accusations for scientists working on #SARSCoV2 #Covid19 . I would also add: Scientists are also humans, have family, friends, children, a sense of responsibility for the society that pays them. Of course we also must speak up for our values!

With #H5N1 #birdflu spreading amongst dairy cows, one of the most important things to think about right now is what would need to happen for this virus to actually start a pandemic.
