For the record, the CDC flu dashboard is nice, and I'm glad they are posting the information.

I don't necessarily think that there needs to be a parallel H5 test run on every sample, but testing samples that are suspiciously high for it seems appropriate.

Is anyone testing California milk for H5? It's not that hard to test, the positive milk has a ton of viral RNA in it.

I just want to know if H5 is in CA cattle.

It would be stupid if I have to have people send me milk from CA to figure this out.

We developed an assay for testing for H5N1 from wastewater over a year ago. (I wasn't expecting it in milk, but I figured it was going to poke up somewhere.)

However, I was just on a call with the CDC and they are advising us NOT to use it.

I need a drink.
