Former Deputy Minister at Croatia's 🇭🇷 Ministry of Culture and Media was arrested today on suspicion of corruption. The former dean of the Faculty of Geodesy of the University of Zagreb and a former professor were also arrested.

The circumvention of EU restrictive measures, how the EPPO could play a role in this and the accession of Poland 🇵🇱 to the EPPO were the main topics of discussion during the visit of Polish MFA Radosław Sikorski 🇵🇱🇪🇺 Ministerstwo Spraw Zagranicznych RP 🇵🇱 Piotr Serafin this afternoon.

Visiting today at EPPO's HQ: Eduard Hulicius, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Czechia 🇨🇿. We discussed the possible extension of our mandate to the circumvention of EU restrictive measures, our 2023 results and the position of Czech nationals working for EU institutions.

One individual and two companies were convicted of evading €3.1 million in customs duties on imported e-bikes. The e-bikes were imported into the EU by a French 🇫🇷 company via the port of Antwerp 🇧🇪.

European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF)

Searches are being carried out in several locations in Botoșani County 🇷🇴, including public institutions and the houses of public officials. At issue is a suspected €160 000 fraud involving funds to boost the employability of young people.

Searches were conducted today in Romania 🇷🇴 in our investigation into a €1.7 million fraud involving projects for irrigation systems. The procurement procedure was allegedly rigged to award the contract to a pre-selected company.

One additional European Delegated Prosecutor is joining our office in Paris 🇫🇷. She was recently appointed by the College of the EPPO. This brings the total to 7 in Paris and 149 in the entire EPPO zone.
