🚨 Tobacco smuggling: in 2023 OLAF helped national and international customs, as well as law enforcement agencies, avert over €150 million of damage to public revenue by seizing:

🔹616 million illicit cigarettes
🔹140 tonnes of raw tobacco
🔹6 tonnes of water-pipe tobacco

💻In 2022, OLAF finalised an investigation identifying various breaches in the public procurement procedure of a digital project intended for purchasing digital equipment for elementary and high school pupils and providing training for teachers on how to use them.

OLAF regularly participates in large-scale actions in joint customs operations (JCOs) involving 🇪🇺 and international operational partners.

These actions of a limited duration aim to combat fraud and smuggling of sensitive goods in specific risk areas.
