Today, we're taking stock of a series of Clean Transition Dialogues aimed at transforming Europe into a clean, resource-efficient, fair, and competitive economy. ↓

We will continue the dialogue with the automotive sector. We will organise joint workshops on:

➡️ steps to boost demand for affordable electric vehicles
➡️a just and competitive transition in the sector
➡️shared milestones for reaching our goals

Today, I hosted an Automotive Summit with representatives of the industry ACEA and CLEPA.

This dialogue is very timely to maintain our climate ambition, the industry’s competitiveness and to push for a fair transition.

It was a pleasure to spend a day with Daniel Mes at our Sluiskil plant & showcase where 12 million tons of #CO2 will be captured & liquefied in the next 15 years to be then permanently stored on the 🇳🇴 continental shelf.

Today, we're launching a dialogue on the pathway towards 2040.

We're recommending that the 2040 climate target should be a 90% emission cut, provided we manage to enhance the just transition for our citizens and the competitiveness of our businesses.

The truth: there is no clean future without carbon capture & storage, notably for heavy industry.

Our promise to Chris Davies / CCS Europe :this is high on the EU agenda. A roadmap to work stronger with industry & member states to boost & invest in this tech is due next week

Important exchange with small business representatives from across 🇪🇺 in our first #SME dialogue.

They contribute greatly to the green transition but can struggle with administrative burden and obstacles to innovation.

Predictability is key for an enabling business environment.

Our agri-food industry has many strengths.

We have to build on them.

I’m looking forward to hearing the recommendations of the Strategic Dialogue on Agriculture.

So we can find, together, common solutions for the future of agriculture in Europe.

The world just adopted a historic decision at #COP28 to set in motion an irreversible, accelerated transition away from fossil fuels.

With that, we have achieved what we set out to do: keep 1.5 within reach and mark the beginning of the end of fossil fuels.
