The UNIFIL continues to play an important role in maintaining peace and stability in southern Lebanon. Minister Joly met with Hervé Lecoq, UNIFIL Deputy Head of Mission, where she reaffirmed Canada’s support for the full implementation of UNSC resolution 1701.

Minister Joly met with caretaker Prime Minister of Lebanon Najib Mikati. They discussed the current crisis in the Middle East, the ongoing tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border and the importance of forming government to support the urgent needs of the Lebanese people.

Today, Minister Joly met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Lebanon, Nabih Berri, and reaffirmed Canada’s steadfast support for the Lebanese people and the urgent need to form a government to address the challenges faced by the people of Lebanon.

Today, Minister Joly met with General Joseph Aoun, Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces. They discussed their shared concerns about the crisis in the Middle East, including the ongoing tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border.
