Some Ruderal bumblebees join the dark side 🔴

Others join the light side – we like to call them Obee-Wan Kenobees 🔵

The difference in appearance is due to the increased production of the dark pigment (melanin) in the hair.

Today at #ForestSchool the children were concerned to find a large bee upside down. We talked about how we could help, so I popped it on hawthorn blossom where he took some pollen and flew away. So important to show children care for insects. Sussed in the Forest Bumblebee Conservation Trust
