Israel killed Dr Adnan Bursh, head of orthopedic surgery at Shifa in prison. Taken hostage from Al Awda Hospital. Tortured to death by Israeli army in their secret detension sites. He was a great surgeon, full of life. Trained at King's College Hospital.

Yesterday marked 30 years since the end of apartheid in South Africa.

It ended because ordinary people had the courage to stand up for humanity.

Global solidarity was the answer then, and it’s the answer now. We will carry on marching for peace, justice and a free Palestine.

Six months on, the Israeli military campaign has brought relentless death & destruction to Gaza.

Lives shattered. Children dying for lack of food & water.

This is incomprehensible & entirely avoidable.

Nothing can justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people.

Al-Shifa hospital in this morning, following the end of the latest Israeli siege.

I repeat: hospitals must be respected and protected; they must not be used as battlefields.
