It’s a real adjustment learning to navigate this new normal where at any moment, a huge wave of grief might try to swallow you whole. Most times, I would just let it happen, but in doing book promotion, I’m learning how to more quickly compose myself.

Today is my birthday, making it a great time to buy my new book “I Finally Bought Some Jordans” if you haven’t already.

I’ve been pretty much stuck since March 29th when it made five months since she died and then Easter happened that same weekend. I miss her everyday but I suppose it’s settling in how there is a hole that can never be filled and how permanent it all is.

To those that have lost a parent/parental figure, how did you handle your first birthday after their death? I have technically a ‘big’ birthday on Friday, but have struggled with what to do because it’s only been five months since my mom died and I’m not in a celebratory mood.
