Saddened to hear of Alice Munro’s passing.😢Her books opened up the world of literature for me… good literature… literature that forces readers to reflect, think, share, and sit with feelings for a while. Grateful for her beautiful stories which will continue to live on.

Something I am so grateful to Alice Munro for: she always believed the lives of women were worth writing. She wrote about mothers and daughters and sisters and female friendships and she made me, a writer raised on swaggering male subjects, feel I could write about women too

Perhaps we need to bring back the concept of oppression when talking about mothering. We know many mothers here in Canada who are not supported by a full time wage are vulnerable. We also know that most mothers throughout the world live under oppressive material conditions.
