Just having a wander, Iโ€™ve found Gillyflower Golf in Lostwithiel. No clubhouse, book online and go play!
Itโ€™s also a farm where theyโ€™re promoting a high sustainability drive too!

Interesting concept and looks like it works well! Could other clubs follow this model too?

More semaphore signals lost as the South West region moves over to the more boring modern signalling.

So, have this example of a semaphore doing its thing at Lostwithiel station last June as 158765 departs with a service to Plymouth

Today, we bid farewell to the semaphores and signal boxes at Par and Lostwithiel.

With a combined 286 years of action, the bells will fall silent for the last time, and the sight and sound of mechanical signalling at these stations will be lost.

Happy New Year. Cheers to 2023 which despite increasingly less variety of trains in the Duchy, still provided some great images. Here's to 2024, the year we say goodbye to three iconic signalboxes Truro, Par and Lostwithiel. Thanks for the support and likes during 2023.

Many clovers are devilishly difficult to tell apart. But not this one! This fiery flower is Crimson Clover (Trifolium incarnatum subsp. incarnatum) in farmland near Lostwithiel, Cornwall.

Can you spot a little friend? ๐Ÿฅน

Cornish signalboxes at Par, Lostwithiel, and Truro close tonight & their semaphore signals are replaced by modern colour lights. Par & Lostwithiel are GII listed and easily accessed, so could be converted to new uses like GII Bodmin Parkway, now a cafe. But not sure about Truro.
