How long until the glibC CVE causes yet another round of “we should deprecate GNU libs in favour of LLVM libs”

Our compiler team has done an incredible job, and the decision to build w/ was an excellent one.

This is an under-appreciated area IMO. Improvements to the compiler are massively consequential for smart contracts (they can immediately lower deployment and usage costs).

I don't like to repeat myself. So when I started working on my CPU instruction interpreter I decided to write everything down as metadata within the library itself. This will be used to implement the interpreter, the assembler, the disassembler, and generate the LLVM .td files

Wait wait wait, this was a thing all along?

I spent all that time combing LLVM code for nothing?

WHY WAS THIS NOT DOCUMENTED BETTER?

once again bitter that these masters students just get to have me tell them how llvm works instead of banging their head at documentation for weeks like me

github.com/goplus/llgo v0.1.0 released. llgo is a Go compiler based on LLVM in order to better integrate Go with the C ecosystem. This is the result of a week's work. printf('Hello, World') is already supported.

mcyoung 🏳️‍🌈 Rust sort has a secret inling threshold of 'yes' you can turn on with '-Zcross-crate-inline-threshold=yes' and it definitely does something. Usually making things slower. But I do think a 'run LLVM to fixed point' would be fun.
