If you plan to earn a Masters of Public Health abroad and possibly find a good paying job after graduation, you should either do epidemiology/biostatistics or environmental/occupational health. The other areas of public health are hard for immigrants to break into and pay sucks.

You can argue over whether masks, handwashing, banning groups etc are effective. What you can NOT argue is that you are personally entitled to take the risk as a matter of individual liberty. You risk other lives as well as your own. It’s just elementary epidemiology.

I can understand that 'right' vs 'left' can make some normative ideas abt society diverge.

I cannot understand how 'right vs left' got to make a difference for the statistical properties of COVID, how the epidemiology differs and why morbidity rates & tail risk must diverge.

Today I graduated with my PhD in Epidemiology and MHS in Biostatistics! What a privilege to have learned so much these past four years.
