BARIATRIC SURGERY AND IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA (IDA)

A) DEFINITIONS:

Bariatric surgery = weight loss surgery, includes:

1. Gastric band
2. Gastric sleeve
3. Gastric bypass

Its a nice concept overall but imagine it difficult to implement. It would be nice to know cost effectiveness for each tier. Tier 1 & 2 group --> need to maximize access to bariatric surgery and consider GLP1a therapy as adjunct & for those not interested.
