Remembering Balraj Sahni on his birth anniversary today.
Rabindranath Tagore motivated Balraj Sahni to write in his mother language Punjabi, when he was a teacher of hindi in Shanti Niketan.
He then wrote some great books in Punjabi, including a memoir and few travelogues.

March 28th. Nightly lows in the 40's in the forecast. It's like being in detention in High School and seeing that you've only got 5 minutes left until freedom.

The two conceptually strongest films from the #Cannes77 competition are, in fact, visual travelogues. Both Jia Zhangke's CAUGHT BY THE TIDES and Gomes' GRAND TOUR meditate on the idea of characters being captured amidst the motion of a changing (trans-)cultural trajectory.

Walked along Hongjecheon the other day and revisited the beautiful Goryeo-era 'Rock-carved Seated Bodhisattva of Okcheonam.' Known by foreign residents and voyagers as the “White Buddha,” it was often mentioned in travelogues from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
