Throwback Thursday! ⏪🕰️
This is a real throwback with the image dating back to around the 1890s. 📜
But what is pictured dates back even further, to around 1080 when the amazing Newcastle Castle was first built on the site of the Roman fort! 🏰

The Mars House by Natasha Pulley might genuinely be one of the best books I’ve ever read. It’s a romance, its a thriller, it’s politically astute and it’s full of warmth and joy, plus the most adorable mammoths. Very grateful to Newcastle Libraries for having so many glorious books!
If you’ve not already chance to see my exhibition at #CityLibrary Newcastle Libraries , it has been extended again until 10 January.
'Speaking As We Find' is an oral history of the working lives of Tyneside women by Caroline Barker Bennett. I've heard some of the audio of women talking about working on the N. Shields Fish Quay in the 1930s. It's fascinating, and available now from Tyne Bridge Publishing & Newcastle Libraries
Fear and Freedom exhibition will be in Newcastle City Library until Wednesday 24 January.
