I'm going to miss this elementary #thinkingclassroom in a few days. They're a great group of mathers.
One of my favourite ways to use #thinkingclassroom is learning phonemes. Ss write as many words as they can think of with a certain sound (here it is the long a) and then show which letters make the sound, then we consolidate by Ss explaining all the possible letter combos

Kinder #thinkingclassroom isn't always ideal or very mathematically focused but sometimes a task just hits! The simple task of building a snowman and counting each item type engaged them for 45 mins and we had our best consolidation yet! Peter Liljedahl

I'm so thankful for the updated #thinkingclassroom consolidation and notes. I used to hear crickets when it came to consolidation and Ss struggled to make notes. Now Ss engagement and confidence is ⬆️ through a 90 minute class. Peter Liljedahl
Less is more. Instead of giving 20 problems, try 5 or fewer. Find ways to dig deep into concepts, expand to include other ideas, discuss common misconceptions, let students collaborate and share different approaches. #iteachmath #thinkingclassroom
I have noticed that when I box work with my red marker to look at during consolidation that group celebrates and is proud their work will be highlighted to class before the end of the block #thinkingclassroom #thinslicing
