Feels like oscarbait structurally, but it's far more purposeful. Wish I enjoyed this as much as the rest of the audience tho. At least it's never as aggressively tiring as Babylon despite the film's energy. Maybe it might click for me at another viewing.
Speaking of SNOW WHITE, it has to be one of the Academy Awards' biggest blunders that such a groundbreaking film wasn't even nominated for Best Picture (the prize went to the forgettable Oscarbait biopic THE LIFE OF EMILE ZOLA). Bias against animation is the only explanation.
why does chappell have to be the next gaga anyway. why cant she just be chappell. just listen to gaga. its not like that woman is dead or that her music suddenly disappeared cause shes doing oscarbait movies now.
This movie is deranged. The scene where the Black kid crashes the car and nearly kills the white boy because they are too busy rapping is the kind of thing you think would come from a parody of a white liberal Oscarbait film which tries so hard to be anti-racist that it's racist.
