We're down in Poole today, taking part in the action with the RNLI for their Lifeboat Festival, as they continue their 200th Anniversary celebrations.

Dutch lifeboat Zeemanshoop (Seaman's Hope) has arrived in UK, it decks crammed with 46 refugees fleeing the Nazi takeover of the Netherlands, mostly Jewish.

Irish seaman & Antarctic explorer, Thomas Crean in 1915. He was aboard the Endurance in Antarctica during the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition with Ernest Shackleton. The boat was trapped in ice for 492 days. The 28-man crew used lifeboats to reach uninhabited Elephant Island.

An incredible sunset gave our RNLI volunteer crew a spectacular backdrop for the wash-down after this week’s training exercise.
