Meanwhile, SSN HMS Splendid is to patrol north-west of the Falklands and attempt to shadow the Argentine Aircraft Carrier and her battle group... both submarines have new Rules of Engagement. With Splendid North and Conqueror South, any pincer movement at sea can be eliminated.

Have coffee with me in the Falkland Islands. Pretty remote location but good to get away for a minute. Pretty close to Antarctica down here. Long history of people fighting over these islands, including the Falklands War between Argentina and the United Kingdom in 1982.

Falklands Diary '82 - Comfortably on board Canberra at Ascension it was still training on board and ashore. Lectures, LC drills along with downtime and swimming. We studied Falklands maps and the terrain. Nothing unfamiliar there. None of these target indications though. ๐Ÿคฃ

SaOnini Lord Bebo So literally what russia are doing today in Ukraine?

Good to hear the condemnation so forcefully from you.

Your opinion on the Falklands are, I think, understandable but wrong.

I still haven't found a picture of the exhibit at the 1924 Empire Exhibition (the centenary of it opening is today) ... but I was pointed in the direction of this picture of the exhibit at the Colonial and Indian Exhibition of 1886

Falklands Diary '82 - Training programmes ashore on Ascension in hot and arid conditions. A total contrast to what we'll encounter on the Falkland Islands, (if we go). Infantry in SA, 1899 during the Boer War. One Great Grandfather fought at Graspan in very high temperatures.
