Today's Ghanaian language of the day is Ewe [Eʋe or Eʋegbe]. The language belongs to the Gbe language family. It is estimated that, it has 5 million speakers, mainly accros the West African countries of Ghana, Togo and Ghana (Ethnologue, 27th Ed.).

“In Eʋe oral history, Amedzoɸɛ or Amedzoƒe ( literally meaning origin/home of humanity ), is one of the names for Ketu. Ketu, in present-day Benin, was a central place in the history of the Gbe peoples.”
