In 2013, Ahmed Samir Assem, a photographer for an Egyptian newspaper, captured his own death during during a protest outside an army facility in Cairo, Egypt.

The footage retrieved from Assem's camera depicts a soldier positioned on a rooftop firing at protestors below.

#NASA has recently chosen a picture from the White Desert as the Astronomy Picture of the Day. The shot was taken by Egyptian photographer @amr_abdulwahab. The White Desert is located in the Western Desert and spans over 3000km2. It was declared as a natural protectorate in 2002.
