We care deeply about evidence-based medicine, and enabling mothers to have a smooth recovery after giving birth. That's why our focus is on promoting normal deliveries and minimising episiotomies and severe tearing.
In 2023, natural tears were common, but some mothers had none, or such minor tears that they needed no suturing at all - a stitch-free childbirth! Our rates of third degree tears were low, and we had no fourth degree tears at all.
We're thrilled to hear Swathi’s mother rave about her daughter’s experience with us. Her recommendation of Aastrika for her next grandchild as well is the sweetest endorsement we could ever ask for.
Our deep tubs accommodate various birthing positions to suit every mom. We use the Edel Immersys FP3 pool, prioritising infection control with a seamless surface and individual plugs for hygiene. Our pools also feature comfy seating and allow for advanced baby monitoring.
For far too many mothers in India, the experience of birth is marred by disrespect, abuse, and undignified treatment. It is a fundamental right that should be upheld without question.
The comprehensive programme follows a cascade training model, and includes theoretical classes, clinical practice, and mentorship. Both the educators and midwives training programmes are 18 months in duration.
It dives deep into Janhavi's own birth experience, and how certain events sparked her vision of cultivating a better maternal healthcare system and empowering mothers to access respectful, evidence-based maternity care across India.
We prioritise evidence-based measures to prevent perineal tearing, such as antenatal perineal massage, warm compresses, perineal support, slow pushing, water birth, avoidance of episiotomy, and pushing-friendly positions– all proven to help.
Aastrika Foundation believes that every woman deserves a dignified birthing experience, and this belief has been the foundation behind our capacity building programmes, support for professional midwifery, and advocacy!
At Aastrika Foundation, we understand the importance of these issues, which has pushed us to make considerable efforts in prioritising the mother and the baby as individuals, following strict protocols, and pursuing practices that are respectful of the individual’s privacy.
