It is 2024. In The Bulletin of the World Health Organization.

Yet another plea for 'health system' RCTs (but who's really the audience? what's done with the results?).

Yet another defense of a hierarchy of evidence (what does/should 'rigorous', 'quality' mean?).

The battle continues.

At this point, there can be no doubt that attacks on health and healthcare are a deliberate and strategic part of the ongoing genocide in Gaza. This election to the WHO EB is shameful.

If the field that calls itself 'Global Health' is actually interested in global health, we should be organizing institutional and personal boycotts of USAID grant money and making it clear to our colleagues working there that the only ethical position is to resign in solidarity

I cannot put into words the bravery of the public servants standing up to the Albanese Government to call for an end to the two-way arms trade.

Lots of good stuff here. What I'd say is that 'debates about methods' , in instances like this, are really debates about politics and authority. Very often this involves people with domain-specific expertise and more progressive political views vs. reactionary economists

Researchers & funders really need to talk more about the effects of 'over-research' on people & communities in Africa. Being researched again & again (even by well-meaning researchers), without any tangible change, can bring more harm than good to people & communities.

Gaza. Where you have to qualify which of massacre you’re talking about. The flour massacre. The Shifa massacres. Now the IDP camp massacre. People told to move to this area only to be killed in their beds. Israel’s barbarity knows no bounds
