People really can’t seem to grasp the simple concept that a majority of people are homeless not because of unemployment but because housing is unaffordable and often requires meeting absurd conditions like good credit scores and making 3x the cost of rent.

One of the arguments made in favor of this ordinance by the City of Orlando was that it had nothing to do with the homeless — and yet, the first person OPD arrested for sitting on the sidewalk is an individual without a home. Ridiculous. Living in poverty should not be a crime.

Among the findings in Ali’s research is the selective use of emotive terms to describe killing—something reserved almost exclusively for Israeli deaths. It’s a sort of reverse humanization, horror only goes in one direction. The killing of Palestinians is seen as sterile/clinical

For every two Palestinian deaths, Palestinians are mentioned only once in the coverage of major newspapers we analyzed. For every Israeli death, Israelis are mentioned eight times — or a rate 16 times more per death that of Palestinians.

When the UN was founded, 1/3 of the global population lived in colonies and protectorates. Today, that population is tiny. Decolonization is arguably the most important phenomenon of the 20th century.

But we're mad that Harvard offers 7 courses on it and has 18 that mention it?
