Self-confessed nature nut: birds, bees, butterflies, moths, even spiders, I love them all. Equally crazy about Bruce Springsteen.

Not the greatest photo, but could this be Cauchas rufimitrella? It was on Garlic Mustard which I believe is the food plant. UK Moth Identification

Last-minute decision before bed to put out trap (40W actinic) paid off despite low numbers overall (7:5). Alder Moth was NFG (and for both VC38 and WC39 portions of SK10), and White Ermine NFY, only the second I've ever caught, first was in 2020. Phil Andrews BC Warwickshire

Very disappointed with last night’s trapping, 2 traps gave 31:6 (most of those LBAM & Tachystola acroxantha). Pale Tussock, Bee Moth and Phhtheochroa rugosana were NFY. The Waved Umber from the front garden trap was gone by morning. Where did all the moths go? Phil Andrews

Just heard from David Brown, my CMR, regarding my Barred Hook-tip. He says it’s the first record he knows of from Sutton Coldfield, though the moth is being recorded more frequently from N Warks. Phil Andrews BC Warwickshire

A Mouse Spider (Scotophaeus sp.) found on the cushions of the swinging seat when I got them out of the shed. A lovely velvety pile on its abdomen. BAS

A good night with 35:20, including a completely unexpected NFG in the form of a Barred Hook-tip, a species of nature Beech woods, of which there very few round here. Spectacle, Chinese Character, Flame Carpet and Yellow-barred Brindle & Common Pug were NFY. Phil Andrews

The weevil Parethelcus pollinarius, photographed in the garden a few days ago. Apparently associated with nettles, though I don’t have many of those.

It was only a matter of time, I suppose, but now I have Box-tree Moth caterpillars on my box-trees. Perhaps some of the hungry birds in the garden will dispose of them for me? Phil Andrews BC Warwickshire

Numbers on the up last night 24:13. Ruby Tiger, Pebble Hook-tip & Epinotia immundana NFY, plus a Least Black Arches actually in the trap. A well-behaved Pebble Prominent and a late Brindled Beauty also good to see. Phil Andrews SJ84Turner Dominic Collins David Wheatley

Walk in Sutton Park this afternoon with my father-in-law; took my EMP lure along and was able to introduce him to some Emperor Moths. 2-3 males appeared within 10 minutes of putting out the lure & one even settled briefly for photos. BC Warwickshire Phil Andrews
