After several years dormant, #Enlargement is back at the top of the agenda & will be central issue for next EU term 2024-2029. A truly geopolitical European Commission will need an ExecVP for Enlargement with an #ENLARCO coordination mechanism w/ commissioners from relevant…

…policy areas to the process. Furthermore, the #EVPENLARG should be supported by a #Barnier -type task-force as enlargement is clearly an horizontal issue that cannot be confined to the #NEAR silo.

Coordination with new #HRVP will also be key.

Ideally, the post should be held by a former prime minister, MFA or someone with recognised diplomatic & negotiating skills. Besides national politics experience, she or he should have European experience with basic understanding on how the #EU works.

Don’t like to focus on names but, e.g. Kaja Kallas or Alexander Stubb (if not elected Pdt of Finland) great fit for the job. Although not exactly fitting profile above & may be looking elsewhere, Roberta Metsola also good. Along same lines, Maroš Šefčovič🇪🇺 would also be good fit…
