This was a lively discussion with Tim Wu. Better on video youtube.com/watch?v=pXIfZZ… but faster as text I am sure.

I moderated a panel recently for Center for Applied AI at Chicago Booth on AI and the Law: Regulation and Opportunity. A good discussion with a mix of legal, business and broader perspectives: youtube.com/watch?v=S__II7…

I worked with the students running this this year and went to the celebration dinner at the end. I know that the judges were so impressed with the work that our students did. Really nice job.

I also was a judge last night for 1L moot court. Capable future advocates in action!

I just bought this. Kyle used to be my next-door office neighbor and Adam is my long-time colleague. I am lucky enough to see Adam present papers frequently and I am eager to see this text.

Last Thursday, I gave a talk and then chatted with Tim Wu at the annual Stigler Center antitrust conference. Transistors, software, the creation of the IBM PC and more. The talk starts at 3:45:17 of youtube.com/watch?v=ZWy69m…

Excited to have a chance to participate in this tomorrow and look forward to learning a bunch of stuff over the next couple of days.

This is from the UK CMA's foundation models piece yesterday. What I found most interesting about this is what isn't there: no links for Meta or Apple. I don't know if, for Meta, that is driven by an emphasis on open-source. I take it we will know more about Apple after WWDC.

I'm sorry, but which screen am I supposed to look at to see the eclipse? Is that my computer screen or my iPhone?

My women’s bracket ended up in the top 1.2% nationally and I still didn’t win the family pool. Lost on the tiebreaker. (The winner gets to choose what movie we watch at the next family gathering.) Still in the hunt tomorrow.

I am doing the next chapter of my draft book, The Quest for Next, at our faculty lunch workshop today. Ch. 19, The PC Slips to the Side, focuses on the pursuit of EUV lithography; the stagnation of the PC as a platform; the smartphone patent wars; and the rise of the cloud.

This piece is part of a small symposium on the new DOJ Apple case. Other pieces by Herbert hovenkamp Maurice Stucke and Fiona Scott Morton (who I think has departed Twitter for bluer climes).

Family bracket pool--winner gets to choose the movie we watch at the next family gathering--and, eight games in, my wife has a perfect bracket. Maybe she is The One.

I just finished reading the Apple antitrust complaint. I will have think about it more but I confess I came away with the strong sense that DOJ thinks we want to live in a world where we are running WeChat on our Xiaomi phones. ?

My colleague Lior Strahilevitz and I made up Filippo's JSD dissertation committee. Thrilled that we have reached this point. Georgetown Law is lucky to get him (and vice versa). Big Steve Salop shoes to fill, but one step at a time forward.

I walked out of our townhouse complex yesterday morning and saw water flowing up out of the ground. I went out at 11 pm last night and Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation was still on the job. Water on this morning. Appreciate the hard work and results!

Super-useful rendition of the Apple DMA hearing today. Thanks for doing this Kay Jebelli 🇺🇦 . A nice reminder of that Twitter can be on a good day.

I have been using Gemini mainly as a possible next step in search. Where, like ordinary search, when I get a result, I have to go look at whether it has surfaced something valuable. I wasn't expecting to ask an AI for moral judgments. Not its obvious comparative advantage.
