The WASPI scandal has affected many constituents in Amber Valley.
It has now gone on for long enough - I urged Mel Stride to pay compensation to those affected.
I welcome the Defence Nuclear Enterprise Command Paper which details what the UK's at-sea nuclear deterrent needs. This enterprise benefits all constituencies.
Rolls-Royce in Derby builds our submarines' nuclear reactors and has received an investment of £2.4B from Australia 🇦🇺
Great to stop by UK Men’s Sheds's Parliament Shed last week - the charity raises awareness of men's wellbeing. Discussed the health, wellbeing and social benefits of community-run Men’s Sheds.
Happy to see that the Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has told Laura Kuenssberg on Sunday that the Triple Lock will be in the Conservatives GE manifesto.
The Triple Lock has helped lift 250,000 older people out of poverty since it was introduced by the Conservatives in 2011.
Great to welcome Rishi Sunak to trentbartonland near Heanor with the East Midlands Mayoral Candidate Cllr Ben Bradley MP. We spoke to the management team and apprentices - learnt about the business and fantastic Apprenticeship programme.
I asked Mel Stride what his planned timetable is for the roll-out of welfare reforms and about the Additional Jobcentre Support Pilot (AJS).
Glad to hear that Phase 2 of Universal Support will be activated later this year and that AJS will be expanded.
It is also absolutely right that Jeremy Hunt has jettisoned the out-of-date non-dom tax regime.
Everyone who is a long-standing resident should pay the same taxes. A different regime should only apply to those who come here temporarily to run a business etc.
I support Jeremy Hunt's steady #SpringBudget2024 .
I welcome in particular:
- The 24mth extension to the length of time you would get to pay back universal credit advances
- The extension to the Household Support Fund
- Extra 2p off National Insurance
