First day of school affirmation for faculty, new and old: own your time this semester, and be mindful of who is getting your best energy. Try to reserve it for yourself and those you love. And be aware that the universal siren of academe always seeks that energy for itself.

I found all 900 koroks in Breath of the Wild so, yes, it has been a productive summer.

More than a little disturbed that the 'moderate' position on local school book bannings is shifting to laud places that are doing it 'transparently' instead of, y'know, refusing to support the banning of books. Transparent censorship is just fascism that smiles.

This is an important part of the structural devaluing of the Humanities, which connects to the latest iteration of “the English major is dead” discourse.
