Despite clouds and just missing totality by mere seconds we still had a great day! So fun to have my grandkids and family experience it!

Salvaged a little partial eclipse not looking good for totality

I’m showing the total eclipse south of Buffalo along Lake Erie. We are seeing an eclipse here!!! Well probably not due to clouds but I’m going to project live feeds from across the country

Why can’t these clear skies stay until 3:23pm tomorrow. Very close to centerline for the eclipse. 3 min 44 seconds of totality… nothing at all except get dark for that amount of time. Saying goodbye to Orion as it heads down into the western horizon and dips into Lake Erie

Had a great view last night of this chain of galaxies- known as Markarian’s Chain in the constellation Coma Berenices. Actually looked at the light from one of the galaxies that took 67 million years to reach my telescope and eye. Amazing

Well the Sun is ready for tomorrow’s show but will we be ready & able to see it. Testing to see if I can project it on a big screen during totally. It might look better through high clouds. May not really be worth the effort &can’t get the whole disc of the sun to project.

Called it a night under the beautifully starry but chilly night. Had to head under the propane heater to finally get started on this My Father Cigars Le Bijou 1922. Some Apple rum to go along with it

Even after 50 years of enjoying the night sky, it still blows me away that I just looked at an elliptical galaxy, NGC 4494, in the constellation Coma Berenices whose light just reached my retina after traveling for 54 MILLION YEARS!!!
