I know we’re all mourning the loss of a great man today, Norm Macdonald. But for what it’s worth, I strongly suspect that he would have zagged and talked about the sadness of a retired family man getting cancer.

I’m convinced there are at least three stages when your wife is out of town for a week: days one and two are attempting to have fun and treat yourself, day three is creeping dread, and by day four you’re in full blown “oh my God, I literally don’t know how to be an adult” mode.

After hearing so much about it, that new Coppola movie better be an insane miscalculated fiasco. I’m gonna be really mad if it’s just boring.

Between Mitski and Beyonce, I’m really getting a kick out of all the pedal steel and cowboy hats the Zers are going to be adapting to this summer.

Crowd for Mitski tonight (sick show go see her) was insane. Apparently she got fifty times more famous since I saw her at the Wiltern. Funny that she got a couple thousand Gen Zers to listen to so much pedal steel and a traditional arrangement of Ain’t No More Cane.

Such a bummer that three of Zemeckis’ early movies (Used Cars, Roger Rabbit, Back to the Future) are magical perfect classics but he hasn’t really made anything I liked since I was born.

Rewatched Down by Law for the first time in forever and it’s exactly what I remembered it being: one of the absolute best movies of the 80s, with a script so lean and economical it makes me burn with jealousy. (I particularly love just skipping the jailbreak completely.)

oh wahhh third places are disappearing everyone is lonely everything’s too expensive blah blah blah. a 40 is like 4 bucks and there are so many ditches and sewers and abandoned hospitals and playgrounds in this country. It’s time we all got serious about loitering.
