Ash Sawfly (Tomostethus nigritus) larvae doing their thing unfortunately on this ash. You'll see the neon green larvae scattered everywhere in the surrounding area. South Belfast today.

More Bee-fly action!! This time at Keggal Quarry and shore of Camloch

They seem to love yellow and purple/blue flowers. Milkwort and cats-ear preferably. Hope to get a group outing sorted soon for people who wish to see these creatures!

Brimstone moth freshly emerged outside my front door, Belfast.

Couldn't wait to see our pre-eminent Pyramidal Bugle again for this week's weigh-in, and Rathlin's super heavyweight specimen hasn't let us down! With a further 2cm of growth since the last measurement, Buglezilla has now officially reached A FOOT LONG 💪🥳😲🍆 #wildflowerhour

Really incredible day up Binevenagh today. Among cuckoo, the alpine plants like Moss Campion, Mountain Aven & Purple Saxifrage (through bins), got some invertebrates too. Both common and widespread, but impressive to see - the click beetle Ctenicera cuprea and the Puss Moth

Walk around the local area today. Two-banded Longhorn Beetle and Marsham's Nomad Bee

Incredible how fast OM SYSTEM Cameras were w/ repairing my 60mm lens! Shipped on 29th April returned on 10th May!

My 1st subject to shoot was this funky pill beetle Cytilus sericeus (Byrrhidae). They have grooves on underside body to morph into a pill-shape. Found Lagan Towpath.

Very much missing my macro lens, but fun beetle found today on the Lagan Towpath. Cytilus sericeus (Byrrhidae - Pill Beetles).

Cremnodes atricapillus reared from agromyzid pupae collected at Lady's Island Lake, Wexford. Collected 1-iv, emerged 7-iv-2024. Thanks to Jaswinder Boparai & Gavin Broad for help determining specimens. Listed for Ireland in 2016 checklist, not much detail on ecology or distribution.
