Favorite read of 2023 is actually a series
The Hap and Leonard series by the amazing Joe Lansdale

Another great short story I read this year: 'The Senior Girls Bayonet Drill Team,' by Joe Lansdale. What a story. Originally part of the 'In The Dark' antho, edited by Lawrence Block Check it out! amazon.com/At-Home-Dark-L…
Each Christmas, Bradbury asked his wife to give him toys instead of any other gifts. One of his granddaughters described his home and office as a riot of activity with junk everywhere. He continued to collect toys and trinkets for the rest of his life. #RayBradbury #Toycollector
John Maly Orson Scott Card Neal Stephenson Stephen King The Stand by Stephen King
Anything by F. Paul Wilson, especially the Repairman Jack series
Any books from the Hap & Leonard series by Joe Lansdale
The Gold Finch by Donna Tartt (oops, I went one too many)
Look you all. I have a quick yarn about my Joe Lansdale reading. Early ‘90s. Hunting down Ray Slater. Grooving on anything else I could get my hands on. God of the Razor. Love you, Joe!
5 living writers you'd want to have dinner with where you're comfy sitting around cracking jokes and talking about shit politicians and the state of the world. In no particular order:
1. Stephen King
2. S.A.Cosby
3. Catherine McCarthy🏴
4.Gabino Iglesias
5. Joe Lansdale
Joe Lansdale books read in 2023: 25) more better deals by Joe Lansdale. another banger, dark and entertaining, something shakespearean about the way the plot unfolds.
Thanks to Ghoulish Books and the San Antonio Current for including Cemetery Dance Ebooks & Paperbacks's Beasts of 42nd Street on this list of notable 2023 books by Texas authors alongside the likes of Celso Hurtado Rob Saucedo Johnny Compton Grace Reynolds Joe Lansdale and more!
Joe Lansdale The Two Bear Mambo was next. It would be unfair to describe such a fantastic novel here, deserves its own essay amd review x all the fun, horror, violence and drama it delivers plus the eerie finale which stays with you.
Joe Lansdale I think I read Leather Maiden afterwards and then decided to dive in the Hap and Leonard series. I loved Savage Season but Mucho Mojo was a class act in mystery and then I couldn’t get those characters out of my mind and the many others that came later.
Joe Lansdale I read this one ages ago and it was spellbinding. The review mentions the home invasion which was nasty and the bad guy who was tattooed and smelled like glue was hard to forget after the end.
The closure is spectacular and satisfying because after all, whew, it was just a book.
