Today is World Press Freedom Day. It is a reminder of the importance of journalism to our democracy. But journalists cannot do their job without whistleblowers. And on Monday a whistleblower will be sentenced for giving documents to the ABC. Another will face trial in September.

The govt’s proposed Deportation Bill would have seen Nades & Priya put in jail, just because they resisted being forced back to danger in Sri Lanka. There are many other families around Aus like the Nadesalingams, who have been living here, working & raising their kids for 10yrs.
