I participated to the #W7 Rome Summit @women7official, organised by Martina Rogato, claudia segre and Lella Golfo.

I discussed the achievements of the #UnionOfEquality agenda, focusing on the deliverables of the EU #GenderEquality Strategy.

Today at #EPSCO ’s all-day equality meeting I addressed a series of discussions towards:

- Combating violence against women & domestic violence
- The adoption of binding standards for #EqualityBodies
- Progressing the proposed Equal Treatment Directive

Today EU Council is holding its 1st formal meeting dedicated entirely to equality.

A formal change to the name of the meeting is a good step towards the building of a #UnionOfEquality as an area that is cherished by Member States and that we must collectively develop further.

Today's final adoption of two equally directives paves the way for strengthened national equality bodies that are independent, well-resourced, and have the necessary powers to fulfil their mission effectively.

I thank EU Council & Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU 2024 for the final adoption of the directives strengthening national #EqualityBodies .

Independent and well-resourced equality bodies are effective in providing a remedy in cases of discrimination.
