You wouldn't think the chairs would be terribly good for the memorial brass. Or does it being someone's grave make it fair game for scraping?

I cannot equate the gingerness of young Ruskin with *any* other image of him.

Compare:

Carte-de-Visite Ruskin (likely 1870): the same year he gave his inaugural Oxford lecture.

Ruskin was an animated teacher who was big on props, even using a ploughshare on occasion.

Saddened to learn of the death of @Francis_OGorman: an organist & scholar whose contributions to English literature (Thomas, Gaskell, Trollope etc) are testament to his acuity. O'Gorman's Companion to Ruskin will no doubt remain a key text.

Rest in peace. May music surround you.
