Did you know that an online behavioural counselling tool with nurse support is effective at helping people lose weight? New research has shown this programme could be an effective and efficient way for the NHS to support people with obesity: nihr.ac.uk/documents/case…

'It's going to protect YOU...'
'It will reduce YOUR risk of a heart attack, cancer, diabetes etc'.

We see this all the time when it comes to medical treatments and health interventions.

I'm going to show why 99.9% of the time this type of phrasing/framing ('YOU/R') is wrong🧵

Honestly, tweets like this are a bigger advert for me for Australia than all the pay stuff

Actual proper resus cases/skills teaching? In the hospital itself and not a study day, AND on the shop floor during hours?? Can only DREAM of that here.

A whole generation of future MRCPs and FRCPs are watching them very closely. This is a membership organisation. A shining exemplar of high standards, set up specifically with standards as their raison d'être. There is still an opportunity for them to hold up these standards.

There has been lots of discussion about Scope of Practice recently.

I spent several months trying to understand concepts of scope and regulation for a piece of funded research.

So here is a bit about what I learnt.

Not an enviable task taking on this debate with excellent arguments from both sides! What do people who attended the course think, should we be doing liver health screening?! Royal Free Sheila Sherlock PGC BASL education feed BSG Trainees EASL Education

Alexander Ford Trisha Greenhalgh I was proud to achieve membership to the Royal College of Physicians. It's not clear to me who the college leaders are representing in this meeting, but I don't feel it's me or my colleagues.

See, the thing is for me, is that but it is incumbent on the current consultants and elected leaders to make sure it IS brilliant for the future generation of doctors - and I think this has somehow been lost

First time for me inside UK Parliament - very grand.

Diet is key in chronic disease management: diabetes, obesity, fatty liver, many more.

The medical model would do well to support dietary interventions better.

Grateful these discussions are happening 🤞

HOW CAN WE MAKE AI WORK IN THE NHS?

HOW CAN WE MAKE NHS INFO INFRASTRUCTURE FIT FOR THE 21ST CENTURY?

These are *BIG* questions.

Now you can read my (long) answer because MY THESIS “Designing an algorithmically enhanced NHS” is available online: ora.ox.ac.uk/objects/uuid:0… 🧵

I answer this question in 3 phases:

1. Why is implementation failing? What are the risks of getting implementation wrong?

2. What are the ideal reqs for getting implementation right? Will these reqs be met?

3. What should we be aim to achieve with successful implementation?
