Absolutely clear that NHS England have lost control with regards to PAs doing inappropriate roles. Lots to answer for Dr Navina Evans & NHS EnglandNMD. Patient safety being compromised on a daily basis

It's an utter tragedy that babies - in Britain, in 2024 - are dying of preventable, Victorian diseases in because of fears around whooping cough vaccines.

Parents - please chat through your concerns with an NHS nurse or doctor you trust.

My position on PAs has changed. A 🧵

I have, in the past, worked with PAs in general practice. Some were very good. I’ve also taught PAs. For these, the ability and quality was much more variable.

But while initially considering PAs to work in my service, I no longer do. /1

But do PLEASE read others view-& review this whole work being thrown at the public without their knowledge

It is inefficient, unsafe & wrong

When we have agreement that PAs are not doctors and must not replace doctors we need robust action from GMC NHS England Royal College of Physicians to deal with this

Let’s see if their actions match their words

The GMC, NHS England & Department of Health and Social Care insist PAs are not being used to replace doctors.

But they're not being honest with you.

Here, for example, is a locum agency announcing new software to fill junior doctor shifts with non-doctors.

PAs are doing this across the NHS 🤷‍♀️
