Other LLM players are watching this Johansson thing closely.

They’ll use it not only mold their product, but to falsely claim moral superiority as “the good little guy” against OpenAI - just as OpenAI did when they first started (and were actually… open).

The header image in my 'Muses vs Sirens' article about the future of AI relationships is from the Achilleion Palace in Corfu, Greece.

Yesterday I got to visit the Achilleion, and see the row of muses for myself. May the AI muses be kind to us.

Altman’s choice to Tweet “her” and then launch a voice eerily similar to Johansson’s was:

1. Brash to the point of potentially making him odious to the general public
2. A step for OpenAI to test Overton window and get people to think beyond

Left: 2000

Center: Today, 2024

Right: The posthuman near-future (2060?)

People imagine the year 4000 AD as involving a rich mix of biological and non-biological intelligence. Total cope IMO. Kurz was right: The non-bio will soon outstrip the bio as the substrate of importance.

Yoshua is cautious on AGI’ potential existential risks:

“[Bengio] We need to understand better before we move forward. Education is a huge tool in making humans better in bringing material well and psychological well-being. We have to be prudent cause we have so much at stake”

The Intelligence Trajectory Political Matrix aims to determine what kind of future someone is moving towards and the beliefs that led them to that desired destination.

This is astronomically better than having people disperse into polarized political camps that hate each other.

'It is pretty ridiculous to suspect, that our individual instantiations of consciousness would survive a hard takeoff to AGI'

Brotherman making moves that are about to lose him the Mandate of Heaven.

Make the moves you gotta make, man, but if you mock ppl openly it’s a bad look. Gotta keep the mask on, comrade.

Goertzel believes that the ramp up to superintelligence from AGI will be much much faster that Kurzweil does.

If the Greeks were of the ancient strain, surely today they'd be thoroughly into AI.

But Athen is no longer Athens.

Once the spark plug to Western progress, they know nothing of AGI. The sand god will wash over them like inert matter, and this saddens me to my bones.

'Dan actually WANTS everyone to live in immersive VR / have AI relationships. Sicko!'

No, brother.

I have mourned the loss of all that I value. I have squarely faced the possibility of everything being replaced by AI-generated experiences. I haven't enjoyed the process.

The belief in angels and devils is tribal, and super counter-productive.

The only way progress is made is when we embrace the fact that all parties are self-interested, and deal with those incentives head-on.

Doomers & e/accs want to play the 'I'm good, they're evil' game tho.

Believing posthumans may one day exist is not a religious faith. All things attenuate or turn into something else - and man is no exception.

You know what is a religious faith?

Believing in a billion-year hominid kingdom. 'Humans populate the galaxy' is the lol of the century.
