Last year was a great year for the Choptank. The river received 'B' grade for water quality & living resources. It also experienced “once in a generation” oyster spawning success & an increase in submerged aquatic vegetation.

The Chesapeake Bay supports the largest breeding population of osprey in the world! Ospreys are found on every continent except for Antarctica and out of the total population of 100,000 ospreys worldwide, 20,000 breed on the Chesapeake Bay.

The spotted lanternfly is an invasive species that has caused extensive damage to native trees, especially in Pennsylvania. If you see one make sure to kill it and check your state’s Department of Agriculture website for reporting protocols.

#TributaryTuesday The Nanticoke River flows for 64 miles through Delaware and Maryland which are both Bay watershed states. Much of the river is protected by state parks, wildlife refuges and natural heritage landmarks. Check out some of their sites⤵️
