i find it really intriguing how the south’s student activism never gets as much media attention as other regions. day 28 of Vanderbilt’s encampment and i only read about it being the first university to start one YESTERDAY.

Faculty at Northwestern are running a 24hr shift schedule to maintain a line of protection around their students’ encampment—preserving their right to free speech in this important moment.

As Angela Davis remarked yesterday, “Palestine is a litmus test for justice for everyone.”

The police seem to have retreated for now, but will likely be back at some time. I am going to go home to get some sleep so I can be on shift tomorrow, but there are EJP professors on shift over night. We keep each other safe. Goodnight, Northwestern!

It is worth watching this CNN video from the moment Emory Econ Professor Caroline Fohlin came across the violent arrest of a protester on campus and asked the police, with shock, 'What are you doing?' That's all that prompted an officer to hurl her to the ground and handcuff her.

While US media & pundit class largely focuses on condemning college students for protesting, don't lose sight of what's happening in Gaza & why they're protesting:

Unconscionable that our tax dollars are helping people like this man bring about his hateful, genocidal vision on so many innocents.

During the massacre at al-Shifa Hospital, the Israeli army shot patients in their beds and doctors who refused to abandon the sick, separated people into groups with differently-colored bracelets, and executed hundreds of civil government employees.

The New York Times actively refuses to use terminology that accurately describes Israel's occupation of Palestine. They even avoid terms like 'occupied territories.' Everyone should be clear about what the Times is doing here: not journalism but propaganda.theintercept.com/2024/04/15/nyt…

Like World Central Kitchen, the heroic Palestine Red Crescent first responders who went to rescue 6-year-old Hind Rajab also received clearance from the Israeli military to get her. They were killed by the Israeli military anyway and so was 6 year old Hind.

also even if he *had* been in that convoy, you can't murder a bunch of NGO workers to kill one Hamas operative. insane excuse to begin with.
