On 28 Apr 1988, the pilot of Aloha Airlines Flight 243 successfully landed the plane after its roof had torn off in flight between Hilo & Honolulu. Tragically, one flight attendant died.

On April 26, 1900, a fire in Hull, Quebec, burned two-thirds of that city and jumped the river to burn about a fifth of Ottawa. 7 people died & an estimated 15,000 people were left without homes.
