Dean and the Yard Goats have done a tremendous job in helping to keep the Whalers spirit alive in Hartford.

May 6, 1973 the Whalers defeated the Winnipeg Jets 9-6 to clinch the 1st ever WHA Championship.

Gordie Roberts (right) was born in Detroit in 1957. He was named after Gordie Howe and later got to play with Mr. Hockey in Hartford. Roberts was the 1st American to play 1000 NHL games.

RIP to one of the NHL’s all time greatest trainers — Tommy Woodcock, who passed away today.

Tommy was the ultimate pro and was well respected by everyone he worked with.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of our good friend and original Whaler Terry Caffery. the WHA’s Rookie of the Year in 1972-73.

Sorry to learn of the passing on Mike Caron, a solid guy and longtime member of our ice crew. RIP.
